I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND
I didn't understand
why right is wrong,
why gangsters are admired,
why sellouts are so popular,
why to be dumb and a fool are also admired.
I didn't understand
why the more educated of our people are almost all guaranteed to be sellouts,
why our people spend their lives listening to music instead of reading on our history,
why sports fill the hours and the days of the lives of our people,
why we participate in the rituals and fantasies
of the very church that was responsible for our present day slavery and genocide.
I didn't understand
and then I understood
when I woke from my ignorance,
when I learned of my true Nican Tlaca history,
when I learned all of the evils of colonialism.
I do now understand, that
to be ignorant of your history and identity is to be the perfect slave,
to call ourselves Hispanic, Latino, Mestizo, and Raza is to dishonor our ancestors.
I do now understand, that
we need to get serious about being knowledgeable of
how we got to our present condition of slavery to the Europeans on our continent,
how we lost all of the lands of our continent to the evils of colonialism,
how we were a nation of ancient civilizations and cities and great accomplishments,
how we were a scientific people of genius and not some New Age nonsense of "spirituality",
how we were astronomers, mathematicians, writers, poets, doctors, architects, and great thinkers,
how we were a people connected scientifically to Our Creator and to the universe.
I also now understand that when the Europeans came to our continent,
they brought with them a smallpox weapon that destroyed our cities and our civilizations,
that killed 100 million of our people,
that killed 95% of our people,
that enslaved 100 % of our population,
that stole 100% of our lands, 100% of the wealth of our lands,
that stole the gold and silver from the treasuries of our cities,
that raped our people, that culturally castrated our people to destroy our culture,
that forced Christianity on the 5% of us that survived their smallpox holocaust of our people,
that put ignorance to be the essence of our daily lives,
that put the chains of self-hate for all of our lives,
that put our lives into a European-made hell of terrorism, poverty, and genocide.
But I still don't understand
why our people who know all this truth
still cling to the church, still want to be "white", still hate their own people,
still happily participate in the genocide of our people, willingly destroy our people.
But I guess I do understand
that this is what has happened to us from
the psychological damage done to us
in over 500 years of colonialism and genocide.
But in many ways this doesn't make sense, it seems all so wrong,
for this evil to continue,
for our slavery to continue,
for our ignorance to be so resistant to knowledge,
for our people to be caught in a cycle of living and dying
in ignorance, as slaves of the European.
At times it seems there is no hope for us,
that we are doomed to forever be the pale man's slave,
to be their inferiors and for them to forever be our superiors,
to be poor as they keep stealing the wealth of our continent,
to be without our own warriors as our people serve as their soldiers and their fools,
to be terrorized by the pale man and woman of Europe and by the gangsters in our homes,
to be living our lives as a dead people from a dead civilization.
I don't understand
why we can't right this wrong,
why gangsters are a disease of our people,
why sellouts participate so gladly in our destruction,
why the smarter of our people are not disciplined enough to be warriors for our people.
But I am a warrior of the Mexica Movement,
among many other warriors, scholars, students, teachers,
and I and they, we do learn and teach the truth of all of this to our people.
There are many other warriors now waking to the path of the Mexica Movement.
We are all detoxing ourselves from colonialism.
We are all learning and teaching our Nican Tlaca identity, our Nican Tlaca collective history.
We are all confronting colonialism in an organized and discipline way.
We are all building a strong and disciplined collective leadership.
We are all using Nican Tlaca education for the liberation of all of Cemanahuac.
We are building the foundation for a free and united nation, a continent free from Europeans.
We are using all of the tools of communication, all of the tools of protest,
to get the message of all of this truth to our people.
