THE CRIMES OF JUNIPERO SERRA, THE CRIMES OF ARCHBISHOP GOMEZ
The Pope is planning to make a saint out of the racist criminal who was the intellectual architect for the founding of the forced labor death camps known as the California Missions.
We have complained to Archbishop Gomez of Los Angeles of this immoral intention to make a saint out of this devil-man: Junipero Serra. We tried to set up a meeting to document the criminal and immoral actions of Junipero Serra. He refused to meet with us.
The church is not interested in truth, morality, or justice on this issue of making a documented racist a member of the sainthood of the Catholicism.
This Archbishop Gomez of Los Angeles is clearly intending to ignore the criminal and immoral aspects of the genocidal actions of Junipero Serra and of the church itself at their forced labor death camps known as the California Missions.
Archbishop Gomez is a defender of the faith, faith in colonialism, faith in white supremacy, and faith in the genocide of our people.
Gomez wrote: "I believe Padre Serra’s canonization will help the Church’s new evangelization. It will remind us that our state and our country and all the Americas, are built on Christian foundations.
Indeed, Padre Serra’s canonization will be a beautiful day in the life of our nation. It will be a day to remember that our state and our country — and all of the nations of the Americas — are born from the Christian mission and built on Christian foundations.
The Church has acknowledged and asked pardon for the cruelty and abuses of colonial leaders and even some missionaries. The Church has also recognized with deep regret that the colonial project disturbed and in some cases destroyed traditional ways of life.
We cannot judge 18th century attitudes and behavior by 21st century standards. But the demands of Gospel love are the same in every age. And it is sad but true that, as John Paul said, in bringing the Gospel to the Americas “not all the members of the Church lived up to their Christian responsibilities.”
THE MEXICA MOVEMENT RESPONDS
Those squatter nations were born from destroying our civilizations and cities. Those Christian missions were build with the blood and slave labor of our people. The Christian presence of Europeans is responsible for the holocaust of our people that killed 100 million of our lives throughout this continent with the use of smallpox as a biological weapon. Christians killed 95% of our populations throughout our continent, including the California missions. Christians stole 100% of our lands.
None of this is moral, and all of this is criminal. The church initiated all of this evil with the Papal Bulls of the 15th century. Those Papal Bulls gave Europeans authorities to kill, enslave, and rob all of the non-European world. And now they continue their genocidal actions with the attempted sainthood for this proto-Nazi Junipero Serra.
HERE IS A FELLOW PRIEST OF SERRA:
"...Father Serra had no patience for Indians who still preferred not to accept his holy demand of them. Thus, on at least one occasion when some of his Indian captives not only escaped, but stole some mission supplies to support them in their journey home, "his Lordship was so angered, that it was necessary for the fathers who were there to restrain him in order to prevent him from hanging some of them...He shouted that such a race of people deserved to be put to the knife." -American Holocaust, p. 140, Historical Memoirs of New California, Fray Francisco Palou
Palou was talking about the people he had made slaves, who was willing to hang, to kill, our people who tried to be free from his terrorism and the forced labor that he made them do. He obviously had already done racist violence on our people. "Treat others as you would like to be treated" was not Serra's motto.
This is the monster of the missions that Archbishop Gomez wants to make a saint. This says a lot about Gomez the man, and the immorality of the Archbishop of Los Angeles.
